Margaret Mager

From 1995 through 2007, Margaret Mager was employed by Goldman Sachs, most recently as Managing Director and Business Unit Leader – Retail Industry in the Global Investment Research Division, New York. In this role she led a team of 19 research professionals covering more than 90 publicly traded companies across all sectors of retail. Considered an industry thought leader, Margaret has been recognized as a top analyst in surveys by Greenwich Associates, Reuters, Starmine, and The Wall Street Journal, as well as by Institutional Investor Magazine where she was named an All Star Analyst for nine consecutive years (1999-2007). In 2007, she was named the #1 analyst in Clothing and Accessories in the Wall Street Journal’s Best on the Street survey.

Margaret was lead manager on the IPOs of Polo Ralph Lauren, Columbia Sportswear, Carter’s Childrenswear, Coach, UnderArmour, Maidenform, J. Crew, and lululemon as well as many other primary and secondary transactions. While at Goldman Sachs, she developed small and large scale events designed to bring together industry executives and institutional investors including an annual conference attracting over 1000 attendees. Recognizing the importance of corporate culture, diversity, and mentorship, Margaret engaged actively in undergraduate and MBA recruiting, departmental training & development programs, and was asked to lead the GIR Women’s Network.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Margaret held various investment and research positions focused on retail at General American Investors (buyside), Smith Barney, Harris Upham, Inc, and Morgan Stanley. She began her professional career at G. Fox & Co. a division of the former May Department Stores, where she was a Financial Analyst and then Manager of Planning and Analysis.

In 2008, upon departing Goldman Sachs, Margaret established Broadview Advisors, LLC becoming a full-time consultant working with the senior management teams of publicly traded companies. In this capacity she uses her knowledge of the retail, apparel, accessories, footwear, and sporting goods industries, her background in equity markets, and her extensive professional network, to help her clients evaluate and move forward on key strategic and operational initiatives, and communicate decisions, forecasts, and outcomes to various internal and external stakeholders.

Ms. Mager is a Stern Scholar. She received an MBA, Finance with distinction from New York University, and a BS, Finance cum laude from the University of Connecticut.
