Lori Schafer is a senior executive and entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in retail and consumer-packaged goods’ marketing, merchandising and technology. In addition to serving as Executive Advisor, SAS Institute, a global, multi-billion dollar, analytics company, Schafer consults with retailers and brands on their analytics and digital strategies in this rapidly changing world of omni-channel retail. In late 2010, she coauthored a business book Best Seller, Branded! How Retailers Engage Consumers with Social Media and Mobile.
Schafer currently serves and has served on the board of directors of various public and private consumer goods, retailers, and technology companies as well as charitable organizations. She is also a past board member of the National Retail Federation.
From 2003 to 2009, Schafer served as President of SAS Institute’s Retail Division. During that time, Schafer was instrumental in building SAS Institute’s global leadership position in retail analytics.
Prior to her tenure at SAS, Schafer served as Chairman/CEO of Marketmax, Inc., a merchandise analytics software company acquired by SAS in 2003. She directed Marketmax operations since 1996 and established its brand name reputation among some of the world’s most prominent retailers including Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s Companies, Marks & Spencer, Walgreens, Staples and many others. Schafer started her career at Procter & Gamble.
Schafer graduated Summa Cum Laude and first in her class with a degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Miami University.
