Prof. Dr. Bernd Hallier is President of the European Retail Academy (ERA), headquartered in Cologne, Germany. The ERA coordinates retail research and related activities among more than 140 educational and research institutions in 48 countries.
Prof. Dr. Hallier studied Economics and received a Masters Degree from Hamburg University in 1973. He was awarded a PhD degree in 1983 for his analysis of the influence of technology on retail and wholesale. In 2013, Hallier became Adjunct Professor at Vitez University in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
His publications cover themes of macroeconomics and microeconomics, as well as exploring the connection between commerce and culture.
He has authored more than 200 research articles, has made more than 20 contributions in major books, and has authored five monographs. Areas of study include organizational and market strategy, the culture and history of commerce, and applied trade research.
